  Door to Door Transportation Management

From the moment you schedule your door-to-door global shipment with Nippon Express USA, the company focuses its capabilities to prepare the trade documentation and then escort your freight along each step of the way. For example, a motor carrier under contract to Nippon Express USA or its subsidiary, Arrow International GNS, will pick up your scheduled LCL or FCL shipment from a supplier in Asia and deliver that freight to a consolidation point near the port. FCL shipments undergo export customs inspection and are sealed in bond for the journey. LCL shipments are cleared through export customs and then combined with other LCL shipments to create a full containerload, which is sealed and tendered along with other FCL shipments on schedule to one of the weekly vessel sailings departing major Asian ports.

Trade documents move electronically to U.S. Customs, while Nippon Express USA sends advanced ship notices to customers and end users. When FCL shipments arrive at the U.S. port of entry in the U.S. port, those shipments destined for inland receivers move in bond under Nippon Express USA control via motor carrier or intermodal rail service to the container freight stations closest to the destination, where the shipment is cleared through Customs and sent onwards to the warehouse, distribution center or retail outlet as per the shipper’s instructions.

Consolidated LCL shipments arriving at the U.S. port from points in Asia Pacific are devanned, cleared through Customs, cross-docked and staged for outbound delivery. The goods move rapidly, either directly to the warehouse, distribution center or retail location within the service territory of the Los Angeles CFS, or they may be again consolidated by geographic destination for outbound travel via motor carrier or intermodal rail service to the container freight station closest to the end user, where individual LCL shipments are again devanned for final customer delivery.

Nippon Express USA and its direct subsidiaries around the world maintain full control of the door-to-door movement. Shippers and receivers enjoy full visibility of the status of their freight in transit through the Nippon Express Ocean Shipment Tracking system. Customers have the higher level of comfort that stems from knowing that all logistics connections occurred in high-security areas, that import/export documents were proper and available to appropriate authorities when required, and that the entire freight movement took place under a single bill of lading with a single point of responsibility.
