How Nippon Express helped solve the tough shipping problem of getting chilled and frozen meats from the US to Japan

The Situation:
The foodstuffs department of a major trading company was losing business due to high prices and problems with non-delivery. They were paying high freight rates because they had not found a source for discounts, and their volume and order patterns made operating under a service contract too risky. Moreover, poor order coordination and late arrival of small orders resulted in container load shipments going out half-empty and under utilized.

The Solution:
The Nippon Express provided a single point of contact to coordinate the customer's freight forwarding needs. Moreover, thanks to the buying power Nippon Express maintains among leading carriers, the customer's meat exports could be shipped at a discounted rate. Since Nippon Express handles LCL as well as FCL shipments, incomplete shipments were no problem and Less than full Container Load cargo could be sent with no need to physically transfer the shipment to another location. For perishable cargo, this capability proved essential. Nippon Express's inbound tracing capability also helped ensure that the produce arrived safely, on time and in good condition.
