Meeting an Emergency
How a quick-thinking Nippon
Express USA manager went the extra mile for an important
client
The Situation:
Company A of
Chattanooga is one of the world's largest
manufacturers of the resin used to manufacture
things like baby diapers. Their main client,
a Company B in Argentina, ran into a problem
and required the delivery of over 100 tons
of raw materials within 96 hours. Failing
to secure the resin would result in a factory
shut-down idling over 700 workers. To make
matters more complicated, Argentina was
a difficult destination prone to back-logging.
Only a special effort could handle it.
The Solution:
The Nippon Express USA
Atlanta Branch swung into action. They arranged
pick-up with six 53 ft. trailers transporting the
cargo to a prearranged 747-200 F charter to Buenos
Aires. The manager from NEU Atlanta accompanied
the cargo on board the chartered aircraft to supervision.
Customs clearance was secured quickly and the resin
was delivered a mere 79 hours after the initial
request. Production schedules were maintained without
interruption. |
